Caterpillars come with appropriate housing and food. Children can observe as caterpillars grow, make chrysalises, and change into butterflies. Once the butterflies have emerged, children can let them go outside.
Visit a Live Butterfly Garden
In the early spring, some nature centers and natural history museums have butterfly exhibits with live butterflies. If one is located in your area, a field trip is highly recommended. Children can walk around amid numerous fluttering butterflies and watch their activity up close.
